Lee Herrmann, author of Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse, to do book signing at the Indie Book Fair on 21 March at the Sunnyside Park Hotel, Johannesburg
New financial models coupled with new technologies have produced a new surge in writing and publishing. It’s this literary explosion that has culminated in the inaugural Indie Fair to be held at the Sunnyside Park Hotel, Johannesburg this weekend 20th to 21st March 2015.
To celebrate the revolution, the Indie Book Fair 2015 brings together authors, artists, librarians, independent distributors, indigenous publishers community development agencies, local authorities and literary activists to host a number of activities including conversations with authors, book launches, workshops, seminars, a mini film festival and round table discussions. Author Lee Herrmann will be in attendance on the Saturday at the Porcupine Press stand from 13:00 to discuss his independently published novel Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse.
‘Self-publishing is a growing phenomenon and is rapidly giving people the platform to tell their stories. For me it was zombies, and grounding it in a South African context was a unique angle I hadn’t seen before. Along with Porcupine Press we’ve been able to distribute it successfully and have grown quite a following. So much so, that I’m planning to release another book in the middle of the year,’ says Herrmann of his second novel.
Told from the perspective of sixteen-year-old Kon, Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse is a coming of age story in a very different South Africa, and chronicles one family’s fight for survival against the walking dead. Books will be on sale for R120 and fans have the opportunity to have their copy signed by the author.
Journal of a South African Zombie Apocalypse is also available from Amazon, Kalahari, Porcupine Press and Loot as an e-book and hard copy. Also available at selected Exclusive Books and other bookstores. Tickets for the Indie Book Fair are available at the door for R10 – children under 12 are free.
