Cape Town's Resilience Specialist Wins Prestigious African Excellence Award for Groundbreaking Online Community: Get Up and Grow

Cape Town, South Africa, 23 September 2024 – In a remarkable achievement, Cape Town-based resilience practitioner, mentor, and post-traumatic growth specialist, Sinta Ebersohn, has been awarded the prestigious African Excellence Award for her innovative online community Get Up and Grow, less than a year after its official launch. This accolade highlights Sinta's significant contributions to family wellness, resilience building, and trauma recovery, establishing her as a leading voice in emotional and social well-being in South Africa and beyond.

A 56-year-old single mother of two sons, Sinta has spent decades supporting families and individuals as they navigate adversity and trauma. Her life’s work is a testament to her unwavering passion for helping others turn setbacks into opportunities for growth. As a long-standing volunteer and mentor, she has provided guidance on a range of social issues, including bullying, abuse, alienation, divorce, and blended families. Her most recognised initiative, Fair Divorce, has been listed among the world’s top blogs by Expertido and Feedspot, offering expert advice to families worldwide since 2015.

Get Up and Grow, Sinta's latest venture, is an online platform designed to cultivate resilience in both individuals and workplace teams through an employee wellness assistance program. The platform provides members with resources and tools to help them navigate traumatic experiences, whether recent or past. By teaching individuals to identify life lessons in adversity and use them as stepping stones, Get Up and Grow empowers its members to thrive personally and professionally.

"I believe the best way to rise after life knocks you down is to learn from your experiences, integrate those lessons, and move forward stronger," says Sinta Ebersohn. "This community was built to foster resilient families and organisations, and I’m incredibly honoured to receive this recognition."

The platform offers weekly resources aimed at fostering life skills, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence. Members also have access to practitioners for coaching or counselling, making it a holistic resource for lifelong personal growth.

Receiving the African Excellence Award not only acknowledges Sinta's vision but also highlights the growing importance of resilience in today’s fast-paced world. The success of Get Up and Grow demonstrates that resilience, growth, and healing are possible with the right tools and support systems.

"I’ve always been more comfortable working quietly behind the scenes, but this award has shown me the value of sharing my work on a broader scale," says Sinta. "The more people who know about Get Up and Grow, the more families I can help thrive."

As Sinta looks to the future, she remains committed to expanding the reach of Get Up and Grow, welcoming new members from across South Africa and the world. Her passion for helping others overcome adversity and grow continues to drive her work.
