Proactive patrol leads to arrest of cable thief in Nelspruit
Written by: Jacqui Save to InstapaperOn 17 March at approximately 07:00, Fidelity ADT Reaction Officers Lucky Thabethe and Tshwarello Moropane were on their way to shift change when they noticed a suspect walking on the N4 carrying what seemed like a very heavy parcel.
Reacting quickly both Officers approached the suspect and enquired as to what he was carrying. The suspect dropped the parcel and tried to attack these Officers. The officers managed to stop the attack immediately. They then opened the parcel and found copper cable of approximately 5kg inside the bag. Both Officers apprehend the suspect for having stolen copper cables on him and he was handed over to Nelspruit SAPS where a case was opened.
“Copper cable theft is a big issue and can cause a lot of downtime for businesses when stolen. This arrest sends a message to the community that this theft will not be tolerated,” says Fidelity ADT Branch Manager, Joe De Bruyn
