On 9 October Kids Haven will be hosting its annual golf day for corporates and individuals at Wanderers Golf Club in Johannesburg – an event aimed at raising much-needed funds to support the organisation’s acclaimed Pathways Programme.
The Pathways Programme is a holistic initiative that helps young people transition from care or under-resourced households into further education, training, or employment. It combines practical workplace readiness, mentorship, and wraparound support to open real opportunities for young people who are eager to thrive.
“Youth unemployment remains one of South Africa’s biggest challenges,” says Ilka Stein, Manager: Youth and Skills Development at Kids Haven. “Through the Pathways Programme, we walk alongside each young person every step of the way – preparing them for the world of work and giving them access to real, sustainable opportunities. Every rand raised through the Golf Day helps us keep these pathways open.”
This year, a portion of the funds will go towards an exciting initiative that sees 20 young people placed with a leading retailer in the three months leading up to the Festive season. While the retailer will provide a stipend, Kids Haven will cover the cost of transport and accommodation – ensuring that each participant can seize this opportunity without barriers.Kids Haven CEO, Sam Mokgopha, adds, “The Golf Day is more than just a fundraiser – it’s a chance for corporates to partner with us in creating lasting change. One opportunity, one connection, one future – that’s the ripple effect your support can spark.”
Kids Haven extends its heartfelt thanks to all the corporates and individuals already committed to teeing off for this worthy cause and encourages further donations to strengthen the programme’s impact. For more information or to book a four-ball, please visit www.kidshaven.org.za or contact Sue Daly at This email address is being protected from spambots.
