Feel the roar of a greener Mustang at the Festival of Motoring

This year’s Festival of Motoring at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit (29–31 August 2025) promises a showstopper like no other – an iconic Ford Mustang 5.0 GT that’s been reimagined to run on LPG Autogas. Yes, you read that right: a greener Mustang, still delivering the spine-tingling roar and raw power fans know and love.
Visitors won’t just see it – they’ll get the chance to experience it in action with select fans, track laps, available in the MasterDrive pit area. RMI GreenDrive proudly celebrates this milestone event, made possible through the generous support and expertise of our valued sponsors.
A special thank you to MasterDrive, who provided the iconic Mustang that powers this initiative. We also extend our gratitude to Ergon and Prins, for supplying the advanced gas-conversion kit that drives our commitment to cleaner mobility, together with ARA and MIWA sponsoring the LPG for the duration of the event.
And for ensuring peak performance in this high-horsepower machine, we sincerely thank Dastek for their precision fine-tuning. This collaboration showcases the power of innovation when industry leaders come together.
“This Mustang proves you don’t have to sacrifice performance to go green,” says Attie Serfontein, National Director of the Automotive Remanufacturers’ Association (ARA), a proud Association of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation. “With a 328kW V8 engine, 0–100 km/h in under five seconds, and a top speed of 250 km/h.
One litre of LPG is approximately 40% to 50% cheaper than a litre of petrol! It is also a greener fuel; when running on LPG, your vehicle emits up to 21% less CO2 and up to 95% less fine particulate matter compared to petrol. Engines running on LPG also produce much lower NOx emissions compared to engines running on diesel, it’s the perfect showcase of how alternative fuels like LPG can power the future of motoring.”
The Mustang forms part of the RMI’s GreenDrive initiative, exploring alternative fuel options that are kinder to the environment. “The GreenDrive initiative reflects our commitment to sustainable technologies while still celebrating the thrill of driving,” adds Ipeleng Mabusela, RMI CEO.
It doesn’t stop there. Supporting RMI’s GreenDrive, MasterDrive is adding another eco twist by offsetting part of the Festival’s fuel use through tree planting with local NPO, Greenpop. “It’s about creating real impact,” explains Eugene Herbert, MasterDrive CEO.
“While festival-goers enjoy the rides, we’ll be giving back to the planet.”
So, whether you’re a petrolhead, a family looking for a thrilling day out, or simply curious about the future of motoring and benefits LPG provides, with the likes of saving on fuel costs, more environmentally friendly mobility, easy tank filling procedure, no power loss, and additional driving range – make your way to Kyalami. The Mustang will be waiting – greener, meaner, and ready to roar.
Don’t just watch the future of driving. Be part of it.
