Last week a bulletin was picked up in the Helderkruin KVCA area about a white Toyota Corolla for tampering with a gate in Indigo street Wilropark.
Wayne Swart Fidelity ADT Community Operations Manager says the Fidelity patrol vehicles were out on a special patrol when they received the lookout and identified a vehicle matching the exact description in Naboom Street.
As the officer approached the vehicle, he saw three suspects running and jumping over a wall into a nearby yard, on a closer inspection of the vehicle the officer also noticed what looked like stolen goods on the back seat. Knowing that the vehicle could not be touched or tampered with the FidelityADT Officer safeguarded the vehicle and waited until back-up and the relevant officials arrived on scene.
Fidelity ADT Reaction Officers assisted with members of other security companies and KNW Patrolling units proceeded to search for the suspects on foot. Within minutes, the first suspect was apprehended. As the search continued, a call came through on the KCVA community WhatsApp group about another of the three suspects who was spotted in Karee street. The units responded and a second suspect was also successfully apprehended. FidelityADT also called for the assistance of Fidelity air support, to see if they could spot the 3rd suspect who unfortunately managed to evade capture.
The two suspects, stolen vehicle and stolen goods were handed over to Roodepoort SAPS.
Fanie Loots, Branch Manager for Fidelity ADT Westrand says, “I commend the Officers for their quick pro-active patrolling and effective communication. This together with the collaboration with other private security companies, was the key to their success. Well done to everyone involved including Roodepoort SAPS and KCV patroller’s team.”
