A thief was caught mid-robbery just after midnight on 4 July, thanks to the quick response of Fidelity ADT Reaction Officer John Pitso.
At around 00:35 an alarm activation signal was received from a property in Black Street, Kimberley. Officer Pitso responded. He parked his vehicle a safe distance away and inspected the area. He then climbed over the wall and spotted a front window that was open. At this point, the control room contacted the owner who came to the property to meet Officer Pitso.
He opened the house and Officer Pitso started looking around. He found a suspect hiding behind a couch and a TV lying next to the kitchen window. He immediately apprehended the suspect and the SAPS were informed.
Jean Pretorius – Branch Manager for Fidelity ADT Kimberley, says Officer Pitso did an excellent job of responding quickly and handling the intruder who was later handed over to the SAPS on arrival. “We are pleased that this criminal is in custody as it sends a message to the community that properties are being guarded and criminals will not get away with break-ins and theft,” he says.
