The Exchange is South Africa’s first ever gathering for premier event organisers and it will take place in Cape Town on 25-26 January 2019 alongside the city’s biggest social happening, the Sun Met, which in itself draws thousands of out of town visitors.
The Exchange will perfectly blend into the nuanced ambience of the fashion, revelry and enthusiastic crowds attending one of the country’s oldest and richest horse racing events.
The Exchange will feature a full day Summit on Friday 25 January 2019, which will be attended by event organisers, industry thought leaders, suppliers and media companies engaging each other on the best practices required to stage sustainable and attractive events for the modern day connected consumer in a highly disruptive economy.
According to organiser, Gerrit Davids of Gerom Media, “with economic challenges being a stark reality for many South Africans, social priorities diminishes alongside that of smaller budgets. Events are challenged to remain a relevant attraction for consumers while continuing to offer value for money while not cutting down on the expected glamour and relaxation attendees have come to expect from premier social events.”
Davids says, “whether it’s a festival, entertainment or social event or a consumer show, organisers are evenly challenged not only to correctly price their ticketing but also to continuously mantain the consumer’s interest to sustain and increase attendance, which will be one of the key debates at The Exchange. These panel discussions will feature leading personalities from the events industry, discussing the key factors impacting on the correct formula required when setting prices.”
The events industry is certainly not excluded from the massive disruption caused by the 4thIndustrial Revolution, which is moving beyond “Apps” and social media platforms and now includes conversations on Artificial Intelligence, Online Bots and even using Block Chain Technology to stay in line with where the world of technology is moving to keep up with consumer demands.
One of the exciting features of The Exchange will be the hour-long “UnConference Session”wherein delegates will dictate the Agenda and exchange their views on the challenges they are facing and gain learning from their peers as to how to implement workable solutions to create a sustainable events industry. In addition to featuring a full day of debates and networking,
The Exchange will also host two different Awards segments inclusive of the SA Festival and SA Lifestyle Events Awards, respectively. The winners of these Awards will automatically be entered into the African editions for their respective segments, which are happening later on 2019.
The Exchange will conclude on Saturday 26 January 2019 with a brunch featuring all the winners prior to the Sun Met of, which it’s expected that most of its delegates will certainly go onto indulge in the festivities until late into the night.
