South Africa’s Most Loved Brands to be Honoured in Social Media Money Awards

In a first for South African brands, the Most Loved Brands have been launched, which is a data-driven celebration of consumer engagement on social media.
The Awards series kicks off with the Money Edition, and it is unlike anything the industry has seen before.
Powered entirely by audience sentiment data, specifically the proportion of ‘Love’ reactions on Facebook, these awards spotlight the brands that have built genuine emotional connections with their audiences.
In a world of algorithm-driven visibility and paid media dominance, these awards return the spotlight to organic emotional engagement.
With social media playing a pivotal role in how financial institutions build trust, a ‘Love’ reaction on Facebook becomes a clear signal of audience investment.
It’s a reminder that brands that consistently earn these reactions are not just visible, but they’re valued.
What sets the Most Loved Brands Awards apart from other awards is that it’s entirely data-driven, with no judging panels or votes, just real consumer sentiment.
As a category-first for financial and insurance brands, it offers a consumer-led, emotion-based benchmark measured specifically on Facebook, where authentic engagement happens, and it is designed to become the industry’s annual standard for emotional brand connection.
Gerom Media will analyse organic 'Love' reactions on Facebook from 1 April to 30 September 2025 to identify South Africa’s most emotionally connected Money Brands.
Awards span categories from banking, insurance, and medical aid to niche services like pet cover and debt counselling, with the top honour going to the Most Loved Money Brand of the Year.
“This isn’t about who shouts the loudest or spends the most. It’s about who is loved most by their followers,” says Gerrit Davids, Director at Gerom Media.
“The aim is to recognise brands that consistently inspire trust, loyalty, and emotional engagement online, particularly in a category where trust is everything,” said Davids
