- OMODA will launch the C5 SHS in March. The stylish hybrid variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine paired with an electric motor and a 1.83 kWh LFP battery.
- The C5 SHS achieves 5.3L/100 km and 1,000+ km on a single tank, while keeping emissions as low as 111g/km.
- The C5 SHS will come standard with features such as a 12.3-inch dual screen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, leather upholstery, an eight-speaker sound system, and a power-operated tailgate.
OMODA is set to expand the popular C5 lineup with the local introduction of the C5 SHS in March, giving consumers a stylish, coupé-esque hybrid option in the compact crossover segment. As the best-selling model in the Brand O&J stable, the C5 plays a key role in the marque’s portfolio, and the addition of an electrified derivative is set to further strengthen its appeal.
The C5 SHS is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 165 kW and 310 N.m of torque. This translates to strong on-road performance, with the 0–100 km/h sprint completed in just 7.9 seconds. While those figures are impressive, efficiency and range are where the C5 SHS truly stands out. A 1.83 kWh LFP battery supplies energy to the electric motor, supporting its hybrid operation.
On the combined cycle, the C5 SHS achieves fuel consumption of 5.3 L/100 km, enabling a driving range of more than 1,000 km on a single tank while keeping CO₂ emissions to a low 111 g/km. Power is sent to the front wheels via OMODA’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), ensuring smooth and seamless power delivery.
OMODA’s Super Hybrid System prioritises refinement, with the electric motor handling the bulk of propulsion and the petrol engine stepping in as required. This approach results in a quieter, more relaxed driving experience, further enhanced by noise-suppressing glass and active noise reduction technology.
In line with Brand O&J expectations, the C5 SHS comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety and technology features. Highlights include a 12.3-inch dual-screen layout with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as 20 driver assistance systems such as Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist.
Luxury and convenience are also well catered for, with features including black leather upholstery, an eight-speaker sound system, a power-operated tailgate and a sunroof. Further details on the C5 SHS will be shared closer to its on-sale date.
“The upcoming C5 SHS represents the next step in expanding the OMODA lineup, introducing a sophisticated hybrid system that balances strong performance with impressive efficiency,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager at OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “Paired with our advanced Super Hybrid System and a feature-rich, comfortable and stylish package, the C5 SHS offers excellent value for money while delivering a refined and responsible driving experience.”
