Written by: Press Release Save to Instapaper
OMODA & JAECOO recorded 69,892 global sales in April 2026, up 150% year-on-year, while cumulative global sales officially exceeded one million units within three years.
Electrified models continued to support global growth, with 31,643 new energy vehicles sold in April, up 113% year-on-year.
In South Africa, OMODA & JAECOO’s SHS line-up is gaining traction, with the recently launched OMODA C5 Hybrid already contributing 143 year-to-date sales and the JAECOO J5 Hybrid due to join the range soon.
Strong Global Sales Momentum Continues
OMODA & JAECOO recorded another strong global sales performance in April 2026, with combined sales reaching 69,892 vehicles.
The result represents a 150% increase year-on-year and follows the brand’s March performance, when global monthly sales exceeded 60,000 units.
April also marked a major milestone for the brand, with OMODA & JAECOO’s cumulative global sales officially exceeding one million units.
This makes Brand OJ the fastest automotive marque globally to reach this milestone figure within three years.
Electrified Models Drive Growth
New energy vehicles continued to contribute strongly to the brand’s international performance, with 31,643 units sold globally in April, up 113% year-on-year.
The April result was supported by strong demand for the brand’s core model lines.
The JAECOO J5 recorded 25,015 global sales during the month, while the OMODA C5 followed with 21,518 units.
The JAECOO J7 added a future 17,693 sales.
Growing Hybrid Demand In South Africa
In South Africa, OMODA & JAECOO’s electrified line-up is gaining traction as more hybrid models are introduced to the market.
Year-to-date sales for the brand’s electrified SHS models stand at 148 units for the C7 PHEV, 143 units for the OMODA C5 hybrid, 128 units for the J7 PHEV, and 108 units for the C9 PHEV.
The C5 hybrid’s performance is notable, as the newcomer was launched just last month.
“OMODA & JAECOO’s global momentum is encouraging, but what matters most for us is that the products are resonating with South African customers,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for iCAUR South Africa and OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.
“The growing interest in our hybrid and plug-in hybrid models shows that local buyers are looking for vehicles that offer strong value and efficiency, without compromising on design, performance, comfort, or safety. With the C5 hybrid now available and the JAECOO J5 hybrid due imminently, we are well-positioned to offer customers even more choice.”
Expanding The Local Electrified Range
The JAECOO J5 Hybrid is scheduled to join the South African line-up in the coming months, becoming OMODA & JAECOO’s fifth electrified model locally.
Its arrival will broaden the brand’s hybrid offering and further support its continued growth in the local SUV market.
