The OMODA C7 fills the gap between the C5 and the range-topping C9 in the brand’s SUV lineup.
Available in 1.6 TGDI and SHS plug-in hybrid derivatives, the C7 adds a larger and more powerful offering to the OMODA range.
Exterior Design
The all-new OMODA C7 fills the gap between the chic C5 and the range-topping C9.
It features bold styling and a generous specification list, highlighted by a distinctive X-shaped frameless grille that gives the front fascia a strong, characterful presence.
Slim LED headlights with integrated daytime running lamps (DRLs) seamlessly flow into the bodywork, while red-painted brake calipers add a sporty accent.
The C7 rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, with the SHS derivative upgraded to 20 inches, creating a confident, athletic stance that is sure to turn heads on South African roads.
Performance And Efficiency
The C7 is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 145 kW and 290 N.m of torque.
Its responsive performance is complemented by a smooth-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering quick gear changes and impressive fuel efficiency.
With an average consumption of 7.5 L/100 km, the C7 strikes a balance between performance and economy, and emits just 171 g/km of CO2.
Handling and comfort are enhanced by a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multilink rear setup, providing a controlled yet cushioned ride across varying road surfaces.
Braking is strong and confident, with front ventilated discs and rear solid discs.
The SHS plug-in hybrid variant pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, generating a combined 255 kW and 525 N.m of torque.
Using a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), it achieves an all-electric range of 105 km and a total range of around 1,200 km.
An 18.4 kWh LFP battery can charge from 30-80% in just 20 minutes via a 40 kW fast charger.
Overall fuel consumption drops to 4.9 L/100 km, while CO2 emissions fall to 33 g/km.
Both the C7 and C7 SHS offer three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, allowing motorists to tailor the driving experience to their preference.
Practicality
The C7 range offers outstanding practicality, with generously sized storage compartments, a spacious boot, and impressive room for passengers.
With the second row of seats in place, the boot provides up to 639 litres of packing space, while a 2,720 mm wheelbase ensures ample legroom for both front and rear occupants.
Both models feature a towing capacity of 1,250 kg, making it easy to pull a trailer or bring along lifestyle gear for a weekend getaway.
Convenience features include power-adjustable door mirrors that fold automatically when the vehicle is locked, 60/40 split-folding second-row seats, rear air conditioning vents, and more.
Standard Features
Like the rest of the OMODA lineup, the C7 offers everything owners expect — and more.
Both models come standard with black leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and a driver’s seat memory function.
Dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a power-operated bootlid are also included.
The SHS derivative adds an extra touch of comfort with a massage function and electric leg support for the passenger seat.
Technology
The C7 is equipped with the latest technology to keep everyone engaged on both short trips and longer journeys.
At the heart of the cabin is a 15.6-inch infotainment display that integrates several key controls, giving the driver easy access to climate settings, media, and various vehicle functions.
Connectivity is seamless with Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto screen mirroring, allowing music or podcasts to play through the Sony Sound System, which features eight speakers in the C7 and 12 in the SHS derivative.
A 50-watt wireless charging pad is also included, while automatic headlights with Intelligent High Beam Assist and a multi-colour ambient lighting system add to the convenience, allowing drivers to tailor the cabin atmosphere to their liking.
Safety
OMODA has engineered the C7 to deliver maximum occupant protection in the event of a collision.
Standard safety features include ABS, Brake Assist, and an Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), along with a comprehensive airbag package comprising dual front, front side, side curtain, a driver’s knee airbag, and even a front centre airbag.
Seatbelt reminders are fitted for the front row, while ISOFIX attachments ensure secure fitment for child seats.
The C7 also offers up to 21 advanced driver assistance systems.
These include Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Both models are equipped with Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
The C7 SHS adds Speed Limit Assist (SLA) and a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) for an extra layer of safety.
Service And Warranty
The OMODA C7 is backed by a one-million km/10-year engine warranty for the first owner, along with a five-year/75,000 km service plan.
The C7 1.6 TGDI is covered by a five-year/150,000 km factory warranty, while the C7 SHS benefits from a seven-year/200,000 km factory warranty.
For the C7 SHS, the battery pack carries a 10-year/unlimited km warranty for the first owner, with certain electric drive unit components also covered under this plan.
Buyers additionally receive five years of unlimited kilometre roadside assistance.
