The C7 has claimed the Family category at the 2026 South African Car of the Year sponsored by Old Mutual Insure, giving OMODA important recognition in a competitive SUV segment.
The result recognises a range that covers the key family SUV priorities, from space, comfort and safety to useful technology and efficient powertrain options.
With petrol and SHS plug-in hybrid options, pricing from R539,900 and the C7 SHS at R689,900, the range combines technology, safety, efficiency and ownership value at a competitive price point.
The OMODA C7 has claimed victory in the Family category at the 2026 South African Car of the Year sponsored by Old Mutual Insure, marking an important milestone for the brand in South Africa.
The result recognises the C7’s blend of design, technology, comfort, safety, efficiency and value in one of the country’s most competitive vehicle segments.
It also adds further momentum to the range, which has achieved strong early traction since its local introduction.
Since launch, nearly 600 C7 units have been sold through the OMODA & JAECOO network, despite the model having been on the market for only around half a year.
This performance reflects growing interest in the range and reinforces the C7’s position as a strong contender in the family SUV market.
Recognition For South African Families
“Winning the Family category at the 2026 South African Car of the Year sponsored by Old Mutual Insure is an important achievement for OMODA in South Africa,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.
“The C7 was developed to offer style, technology, safety and value in a package that suits local families, and this recognition reinforces the strength of that proposition.”
Petrol And Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain Options
The C7 range offers buyers the choice of petrol and SHS plug-in hybrid powertrains, with the latter delivering up to 105 km of all-electric driving range and a total range of approximately 1,200 km.
The range also includes a high level of standard comfort, safety and connectivity features, supported by OMODA’s comprehensive warranty and ownership package.
Pricing And Model Line-Up
The C7 range starts at R539,900 for the C7 1.6 TGDI Luxury, followed by the C7 1.6 TGDI Elegance at R589,900.
The C7 SHS is priced at R689,900, positioning the plug-in hybrid derivative as part of a broader line-up that combines petrol and electrified options with OMODA’s standard safety, technology and ownership package.
Strengthening OMODA’s Growth Story
With its Family category win, the OMODA C7 adds another important proof point to the brand’s local growth story and strengthens OMODA’s position in South Africa’s family SUV market.
