South Africa’s most active and creative youth, in the under-10 to under-18 age groups will compete for gold in the inaugural FitActiveX Youth Xplosion Challenge and stand a chance to show off their talent against competitors from around the world.
They will join hundreds of their counterparts from around the country recording videos of their chosen sports’ exercise or participate in the talent contest, showcasing their skills in sixty seconds, (one minute).
All contestants will also automatically be entered into the World Virtual Youth Festival 2021, which is happening at the end of the year and compete against thousands of youth from more than 100 different countries.
FitActiveX is an event that has been designed in line with the strategic objective in the National Sports & Recreation Plan (NSRP) of the Department of Sports, Arts & Culture, which primarily aims, “To improve the health and well-being of the nation by providing mass participation opportunities through active recreation.”
FitActiveX will primarily be hosted in local municipalities, subject to Covid-19 protocols and entrants will also vie for a place in the Sports Africa Festival, taking place in March next year.
The organisers are also considering a virtual entry platform for those participants who live in areas, where no in-person events will be held.
Timeline:
- July to September 2021: Entry period
- October 2021: Listing of all entries for the World Virtual Youth Festival 2021
- October 2021: Announcement of FitActiveX Winners, which will be entered in the Sports Africa Festival (March 2022)
More details will be released in due course.
