On 3 July at approximately 20:56 Fidelity ADT apprehended a suspect who was caught red-handed in possession of cash stolen from a business in Marabstad, Pretoria.
At approximately 20:56 Fidelity ADT Reaction officers Molewa and Sekgobela were dispatched to a reported break in at Eleventh Street in Marabastat. On arrival Officer Molewa was informed by the security officer that was posted on the street that he seen a suspect in the roof.
The Fidelity ADT officers proceeded to check the property and saw that the roof was open. Officer Molewa requested the client to come to the business so that they could check inside the property. When the client arrived they went inside the shop, climbed up into the roof and found the suspect. The suspect was ordered to get out the roof and was Immediately apprehended.
On further investigation, officers discovered that the suspect stole cash from the shop. The suspect was handed over to sergeant Mahlangu of Pretoria Central Police station.
“We urge all business owners to consider installing outdoor detection devices and perimeter security to reduce the chances of criminals reaching the property and gaining access to the roof.”
Another alternative worth looking at is microwave Passive Infra-Red detectors which are specifically designed for very hot areas – such as a roof. Normal infra-red detectors are not as effective when installed in extremely hot areas,” concludes Muller Regional manager for Fidelity ADT.
