Mind-Blowing Musos at Bay Harbour Market
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonBay Harbour audiences are in for a treat this weekend with melodic folk rock from the Cape Doctors, sensational swing from Hangberg locals Jackson Vibe and some amazing flamenco guitar and classical jazz from Bienyameen Camroodien and Heather Roth.
Hitting the stage for Friday Nite LIVE! on September 28 is popular Hout Bay maestros The Cape Doctors. Formed in 2011, this talented bunch plays everything from popular folk to classic pop (sprinkled with an original song or two written by frontman Frankie Hannigan). The Cape Doctors will take you on a journey from the 60's right up to modern day classic tracks and it's through their song selection that they've become well known for being "The Sundowner Band for All Occasions"!
On Saturday September 29, local Hangberg jazz band Jackson Vibe takes to the Brampton Sound Stage. The young ensemble has recently added a vocalist to their ranks - adding a powerful new element to their wonderful blend of Cape jazz and swing. Whilst very dedicated to producing fine music, Jackson Vibe are also closely linked to community activities and relish performance opportunities that come their way.
Bringing a fascinating fusion of flamenco guitar and classical jazz to the stage on Sunday September 30 are highly experienced musicians Heather Roth and Bienyameen Camroodien. Heather Roth is a classically trained flautist and saxophonist with an incredible wealth of musical experience, having played all over the world with numerous bands, orchestras and performers. She has shared the stage with Mac McKenzie and his Goema Jazz Projects, the National Youth Orchestra and acclaimed bass player and producer Schalk Joubert. Bienyameen Camroodien is a virtuoso musician with a knack for plucking strings. He began playing music at the tender age of six and has gone on to play alongside international groups like Shakatak and Kaoma with his band Los Gitanos. You don't want to miss this dynamic duo!
As well as awesome live music, arts, crafts, fashion, decor and delicious cuisine, Bay Harbour is also hosting a monthly comedy showcase on the first Wednesday of each month.
