Phax Trio Ignites the Vibe at Bay Harbour Market this Weekend
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonBay Harbour Market comes alive this weekend with a stellar line-up of diverse performances, kicking off with Cape Town-based blues-rock band In the Deep for Friday Nite LIVE!; on Saturday, Phax Trio showcase their saxophone and euphonium skills and on Sunday, folk artists Mary Anne Constable, the Stone Jets and Nalia combine their talents to deliver a musical collaboration to energise shoppers.
Friday Nite LIVE! presents blues rock band In the Deep End. This four piece band consists of Nick le Mesurier on guitar, Ronnie Ranson on bass, Mervin Flink on drums and Monique (Nix) de Jager on vocals.
On Saturday, the market welcomes newcomers Phax Trio, with Shaun Acker on Alto Saxophone; Andrea Fisher-Jeffes on Euphonium and Levi Alexander on Baritone Saxophone. Classically trained at Rhodes and Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre, the trio creates harmonious melodies with a Balkan, alternative, Latin and classical touch.
On Sunday, the market showcases the soulful folk melodies of singer/songwriter Mary Anne Constable. A poet who soon discovered she had a singing voice, Mary Anne has been turning her soulful poetry into beautiful music since she was 21. Her voice has been likened to Eva Cassidy, with a rare edge of emotional rawness. Joining Mary Anne is acoustic folk rock band Stone Jets, comprising of Given and Manfred. The duo met at a recording session in Cape Town where they began their musical journey together. The name Stone Jets encompasses the fusion of this duo's musical and social background. Completing the ensemble on Sunday is upcoming Cape Town-based pop folk artist Nalia.
Bay Harbour Market is open from 5 pm to 9 pm for Friday Nite LIVE! and from 9.30 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entrance is free. For more information email: info@bayharbour.co.za or visit the website: www.bayharbour.co.za
