Friday Nite LIVE! 1 November – Zion 3 and 3 Grams
Bringing their vocal abilities and amazing stage presence to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Friday are talented boy bands Zion 3 and 3 Grams.
Zion 3 members Bradley van der Zandt, Dillon Powell and Tashwin Manuel have known each other since childhood, and their paths kept crossing until one day while singing in the car, they started harmonising and realised that could potentially go far with their musical abilities. Thus the natural talents of Zion 3 were born. The band counts John Legend, Michael Buble, Boys 2 Men, Chris Brown, Daniel Bedingfield, Luther Vandross and Nat King Cole as their many influences.
Teaming up with Zion 3 on Friday is upcoming boy band 3 Grams. The nephews of the late, great Brenda Fassie – they were the winners of the semi-finals of The WOW Factor in August 2013. Siphe, a Grade 9 student at Oude Molen High and Lihle who is in Grade 7 at Seamount Primary, are talented musicians as well as keen athletes, and spend all their spare time singing their hearts out. They hail Bruno Mars as their favourite singer, and do him more than justice when they take to the stage with ‘When I was your man.’
Saturday 2 November – Chris Bakalanga
Guitarist and bassists from the DRC, Chris Bakalanga takes to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Saturday, 2 November to give visitors a vibrant mix of Central & West African folk music fused with Afro-Latin beats. This seasoned guitarist and passionate performer will be joined by a percussionist to create a musical fusion worth remembering.
Sunday 3 November – Christi Lyn
Debuting on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Sunday is Cape Town singer and instrumentalist Christi Lyn. A versatile musician, Christi sings and accompanies herself on the piano, ukulele or harp. She has a gentle, pure voice and approaches each song with sincerity. As a performer, Christi Lyn’s style ranges over Celtic music, light classical and pop.
