Friday Nite LIVE! 30 August – Can Skylark
The Bay Harbour Sound Stage gives way to the musical genius of Can Skylark on 30 August for Friday Nite LIVE! Can Skylark has been in the performing arts and music industry for over 14 years, gracing many of the biggest stages across South Africa, including The BMW Pavilion, Joseph Stone Auditorium, 3Arts, The Barnyard Theatres (Nationwide), The Labia and many more.
Her experience and profound talent has seen her perform at local festivals and coveted stage productions. She recently released her debut solo album, PURE. The singles off the album, "Everything is Cool" and "Nothings Gonna Get Me Down Today" have been playlisted on local and international radio stations, including KFM, Heart 1049.9 FM, Smile FM and KayaFm (JHB) to name a few. Can Skylark has worked with the likes of Vicky Sampson, Leslie Kleinsmith, Mike Horne, Lee Gold, Ultra Records' Jimmy Nevis, Stereotype Records' Keeno Lee, Gary Naidoo, Gorm Helfjord and Jon-e, to name a few.
Saturday 31 August – Cardigan Buzz
On Saturday, jazz band Cardigan Buzz is back on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage to entertain audiences with their blend of jazz, swing, folk and blues. This four-piece band began in 2006 and includes members Alex (keyboard, accordion) and Pete (hung, cajon) who were soon joined by Andrew (guitar) bringing in the element of classical guitar. Callan (bass), Bruce (saxophone) and Caely (vocals) joined the band soon after. The band’s most well-known work is their flagship reworking of Tom Waits’ ‘Chocolate Jesus’, and ‘Meaning of You’, an original which got radio play on Bush Radio and Fine Music Radio.
Sunday 1 September – Take Cover
Taking centre stage on Sunday is talented duo Matt and Chloe of Take Cover. Take Cover was born in late 2012 after Chloe and Matt met while competing in South African Idols. Combining Chloe's angelic voice and passion for storytelling with Matt's prodigal guitar playing and rock voice they've created their own unique sound. Take Cover’s style ranges overs a variety of genres from folk, country and acoustic to blues, rock and pop and they always strive to put their unique spin into everything they create to give audiences more than just a ‘cover’.
The market is open from 5 pm to 9 pm on Friday; and from 9.30 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entrance is free. For more information email: info@bayharbour.co.za or visit the website: www.bayharbour.co.za.
