Top Musical Talents Create Vibe to Shop, Eat and Chill to at Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonHOUT BAY, WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA: 10 APRIL 2013: Enjoy the sounds of the Bootleggers Blues Band, UPfront and Katelyn Convery while you shop, eat, browse and mingle at Bay Harbour Market this weekend. Bringing their blend of blues and rock to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Friday, April 12 is The Bootleggers Blues Band. Covering artists such as Son House, Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon alongside the more well-known Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry and Stevie Ray Vaughan, the band are sure to entertain Cape Town audiences with their brand of rocking blues.Taking to the stage on Saturday, April 13 is eclectic jazz band UPfront. Led by founding member Brad Saunders on guitar and vocals, UPfront is a collective of experienced and talented musos. Bassist Wayne de Smidt has toured the SA hotel circuit with top Cape Town musicians, while drummer Joshua Anthony is an upcoming talent who recently filled in for Freshly Ground's Peter Cohen. Keyboardist Charlie Louw has played with influential SA jazz musos and has toured extensively across SA and Asia. This is one group of accomplished musicians you can't afford to miss! With a rich, soothing voice and poignant original compositions, singer/songwriter Katelyn Convery injects a shot of austere acoustic awesomeness into the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Sunday, April 14. Born in Portland, Oregon, Katelyn has travelled extensively in Asia and India specifically, as well as Europe and Africa. Her guitar has been a faithful friend throughout all of these travels and her songs are often little windows into the revelations she makes while being challenged by the universal human experience and by the solitude of being far from home. Her music has been described by those close to her as "hopeful-melancholy" and is often calm and subdued with a relatable message and poetic lyrics. As well as awesome live music, the Bay Harbour Market is home to over 100 stalls featuring arts, crafts, fashion, decor and delicious cuisine; a platform for the country’s finest creativity!
