Music Sparks Creative Flair at Bay Harbour Market
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonHOUT BAY, WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA, 25 FEBRUARY 2013:Sixgun Gospel, Kelly Sayer, Keren Lindley and Jethro Tait entertain audiences at Bay Harbour Market this weekend.
Taking to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on March 1st for Friday Nite LIVE! is blues rock masters Sixgun Gospel. Since arriving in Cape Town from the Eastern Cape, this unique band has brought its signature combination of blues, bluegrass, gothic country, gospel and funk to venues across the peninsular. They play with an honest, unbridled enthusiasm for the music, and a burning desire to leave audiences satisfied. With a muscular, foot-stomping rhythm section, intricate melodic accompaniment and soulful vocals, the band deliver songs that are steeped in the rich history of Americana music, but with a touch of local flavour. Playing on Saturday March 2nd is up-and-coming singer/songwriter Kelly Sayer. Proficient on vocals, guitar, piano and ukulele, this young talent writes original compositions, but also performs a large repertoire of cover songs. Kelly is also a member of an a cappella vocal group called Fusion, which was recently featured on the South African TV Show, “Come Dine with Me”. This up-and-coming talent has obtained a scholarship at the University of Berkley USA and will be studying a music degree there next year.Ending the weekend off on Sunday March 3rd is song writing duo Keren Lindley and Jethro Tait. Although Keren and Jethro have contrasting musical styles, ranging from alternative and folk to pop and acoustic, they decided to join forces and have blended their talents into a unique sound. Performing a collection of both well-known covers and original songs, they have formed a powerful partnership and are excited to share their musical fusion with the Bay Harbour audiences. As well as awesome live music, arts, crafts, fashion, decor and delicious cuisine, Bay Harbour is also hosting a monthly comedy showcase on the first Wednesday of each month. The line-up for the 6th March 2013 features host Tracy Klass, Piet Potgieter and Oren Williamson.
