Jazz and Soul Music at Bay Harbour Market this Weekend
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonBay Harbour Market comes alive this weekend with a range of musical acts featured live on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage, including Jazz band Bamboo Pavillion, Ebony & Ivory, DJ Prophet 777 and DJ Ty and Contemporary Jazz band Wana Africa. Visitors can grab a bite to eat, browse the gift stalls and take in the vibrant sights and sounds of Hout Bay at no cost.
The Sound Stage presents Friday Nite LIVE! on May 24 starring 6-piece Jazz band Bamboo Pavilion, who are sure to ease you into the weekendwith their range of jazz, featuring Doug Armstrong on trumpet and flugelhorn, John Thorne on tenor sax, Michael Kuhnert on guitar, Paul Stein on keyboard, Richard Weissenberg on bass, and Simon Annet on drums.
Saturday May 25 brings you an exciting collection of blues, soul, and hip-hop. Ebony and Ivory (DJ Prophet 777 and DJ Ty) kick off the day with their soulful collection. DJ Prophet 777, a South African Gospel House Music DJ and Producer/ Composer, will beentertaining audiences with his range of tunes. Ty follows the acts with quality dance floor music, ranging from Electro to Dubstep.
Wana Africa takes to the stage on Sunday May 26. Wana (meaning gift) is a fitting name for this band given their vast talents for music. Wana Africa plays a fusion of Central-Southern African vibes with Zouk beats. Get into the vibe with band members Robert Sakanyi from Zambia (composer, lead vocalist and guitarist), Bienvenue from Congo (jazz guitarist), Khatou Nematei (co- founder of LIW records and Live Instrument Worship Band, and skilled pianist), Christian Bakalanga from the DRC (professional guitarist), Loic Bolomo from the DRC (skilled drummer) and Takalani Tshikovhi (bass guitarist).
