Homegrown Music at its Best at Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonHOUT BAY, WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA, 17 April 2013: Pop-rock, jazz fusion and a one-man-band hit the Bay Harbour Sound Stage this weekend – grab a bite, browse the stalls and enjoy the vibes!
Taking to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on April 19 for Friday Nite LIVE! is four-piece pop-rock sensation Hotel Iris. This unique band combines soulful, bluesy undertones with pop rhythms to tantalize even the most turbid of ears. Hotel Iris has been making serious waves on the local music scene having recently played an acoustic set with popular SA outfit Zebra and Giraffe. The band also holds the title of Band Survivor Hout Bay 2012 and is sure to complement the great energy of the market.
Back on the stage on Saturday April 20 is ‘one man band’ Peter Wyness. Peter worked the hotel circuit for many years specialising in more intricate folk vocal and guitar styles while also crossing over to blues and light jazz influences. He is the only one man band of his kind in South Africa, providing a fresh approach to the term ‘unplugged’. Peter plays everything from the guitar and blues harp to brush peddle drums and finger maracas.
Ending the weekend off on Sunday April 21 is jazz/fusion ensemble the Goslett Project. Headed up by accomplished guitarist Elton Goslett, this potent jazz fusion outfit also features COPA graduate Michael Steyn on drums and experienced bassist Valentino Europa. These musos have paid their dues at venues across SA and it promises to be a powerful performance.
As well as awesome live music, the Bay Harbour Market is home to over 100 stalls featuring arts, crafts, fashion, decor and delicious cuisine; a platform for the country’s finest creativity! Viva Republica.
