Submitted by: Ian DickinsonHOUT BAY, WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA, 15 JULY 2013: To experience an amazing weekend of SA’s musical talents, fantastic local crafts and delish food, make sure you head to Bay Harbour Market this weekend. Taking to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage for Friday Nite LIVE! is popular jazz/funk band Acid Blues and guests. Saturday showcases the talents of Jersey Bob and Sunday brings you the musical musings of Blair Taberer.
Friday Nite LIVE! 19 July – Acid Blues & Guests
The Bay Harbour Sound Stage plays host once again to the electrifying jazz/funk trio Acid Blues. Consisting of founding member and super-talented jazz guitarist James Kibby, renowned funk/blues/punk bassist Maurice Paliaga and experienced session drummer Richard Pickett, this is a collaboration that is sure to impress.
Saturday 20 July – Jersey Bob
On Saturday 20 July, Jersey Bob tells interesting tales through soothing acoustic folk music on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage. Jersey Bob has developed a reputation for his classic folk tunes, reminiscent of Neil Young and Bob Dylan.
His performances are peppered with amusing anecdotes and jokes between tracks, adding extra flavour and coining a new genre of comedy/folk. Jersey Bob’s unique folk songs paired with the delish food and quirky traders at the Bay Harbour Market make it the perfect place to be this weekend.
Sunday 21 July – Blair Taberer
Presenting market goers with a unique twist on acoustic folk music is solo artist Blair Taberer, who performs live on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Sunday 21 July. Hailing from Cape Town, Blair’s acoustic folk infused with loop pedal allows him to blend percussion and string slaps with a melodic interface, to create a harmonious style.
Blair’s main influences range from local artists Ard Matthews, Rory Elliot and Tombstone Pete to international talents like John Mayer, James Morrison and Dallas Green. With his original rendition of cover songs, Blair’s performance is unlike a standard cover set.
The market is open from 5 pm to 9 pm on Friday; and from 9.30 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entrance is free. For more information email: info@bayhabrour.co.za or visit the website: www.bayharbour.co.za.
