Friday Nite LIVE! 18 October – Acoustic Liquid

Hitting the Bay Harbour Sound Stage for Friday Nite LIVE! is Acoustic Liquid. This acoustic rock band integrates Flamenco guitar with tribal rhythms and deep soulful lyrics with an array of orchestral pieces. Acoustic Liquid originals encompass a wide variety of sounds that are both soothing and emotional.

Acoustic Liquid, consisting of members Westley Engelbrecht (Vocals, Acoustic Guitar and Piano) and Charles (Drums), started as a cover band in 1998 and have since progressed to writing and performing their own compositions, which have been described as ‘sound art in motion’.

Saturday 19 October – Gerry Coetzee 

On Sunday Gerhard (“Gerry”) Coetzee takes to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage. Gerry captivates audiences with his virtuosity on the guitar and his soulful vocals. What you can expect to hear from this talented musician is a mix of blues, folk, rockabilly, blue-eyed soul with a guitar-driven acoustic flow. Add to this a rhythmic beat of a wooden stomp box, interspersed with an occasional harmonica solo, and you have a sound that will set your foot tapping and hands clapping.

Apart from session work, Gerry performs with Ann Jangle and The Dixie Pricks as the lead guitarist for both of these bands.

Sunday 20 October – Cascade

Bringing their powerful tunes to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Sunday is Cascade, a quartet led by Michael Thorn. Thorn formed Cascade in 2012, bridging classical and jazz music genres by writing compositions influenced by improvisation. Cascade consists of pianist and composer Michael Thorn on keyboard; jazz graduate and percussionist Byron Howell on drums; multi-instrumentalist Max Starcke on electric bass; and performer and producer Doug Armstrong on trumpet.
