Submitted by: Ian DickinsonFriday Nite LIVE! on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage kicks off with Congo-born, Afro-Fusion guitarist Mapumba and percussionist Dady Kabuya; Saturday sees The Outlaws step up the energy with their unique blend of World Music; while Sunday sees the return of acoustic rock solo-performer Samuel Miller to deliver Sunday smooth sessions on the Sound Stage at Bay Harbour Market.
Friday Nite LIVE! 20 September – Mapumba and Dady Kabuya
With a fusion of traditional African folk and popular contemporary musical styles, Mapumba and percussionist Dady Kabuya take market goers to the heart of Africa for Friday Nite LIVE! Born in the democratic republic of Congo, Mapumba's music was inspired by his environment, but a deeper connection to folk songs and legendary stories told by his mother has persisted throughout his musical career.
Saturday 21 September – The Outlaws
On Saturday, The Outlaws add spice to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage with their acoustic improvisation. Influenced by World Music titan Manu Chao, this mix of folk, blues, country, and Bossa Nova delivers a distinctly psychedelic edge to the market.
Sunday 22 September – Samuel Miller
Sunday sees the return of the soothing sounds of acoustic solo musician and songwriter Samuel Miller, a full-time musician from Kent, UK. Samuel’s main influences range from Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles to Jeff Buckley and Led Zeppelin. Samuel has just released his first album in Cape Town titled "Lost Out Here". Samuel is currently playing gigs in and all over Cape Town. Samuel’s soulful performance and inspiring lyrics give market goers a great vibe this weekend.
