African Fusion, Acoustic Rock and Marimba Music at Bay Harbour Market this Weekend

The musical trip begins on Thursday 12 September with the third of The Bay Harbour Unplugged Sessions with Ard Matthews. Catch the performances by Wana Africa, Stefan Dixon and Sivukile Marimaba on the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and enjoy the amazing art, craft, fashion and food that the market has to offer.

After the sell-out success of Johnny Clegg and Prime Circle, the third of The Bay Harbour Unplugged Sessions kicks off on 12th September at Bay Harbour Market with an acoustic performance by Ard Matthews, best known as the frontman for Just Jinger. The Unplugged Series features South Africa’s foremost artists in a candlelit, intimate setting, presented by Real Concerts at the Bay Harbour venue. Friday Nite LIVE! 13 September – Wana Africa
Wana Africa takes to the stage for Friday Nite LIVE! Wana (meaning gift) is a fitting name for this band given their vast musical talents. Wana Africa plays a fusion of Central-Southern African vibes with Zouk beats. Band members are Robert Sakanyi from Zambia (composer, lead vocalist and guitarist), Bienvenue from Congo (jazz guitarist), Khatou Nematei (co- founder of LIW records and Live Instrument Worship Band, and skilled pianist), Christian Bakalanga from the DRC (professional guitarist), Loic Bolomo from the DRC (skilled drummer) and Takalani Tshikovhi (bass guitarist).
Saturday 14 September – Stefan Dixon
On Saturday singer-songwriter Stefan Dixon returns to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage. Stefan performs acoustic, melodic rock and draws his influence from the likes of Vusi Mahlasela and Johnny Clegg. Stefan performs songs that speak of his heart and mind, and the world outside.
Sunday 15 September – Sivukile Marimba
Hailing from the Gugulethu Township, the Sivukile Marimba band is a diamond in the rough. The band’s music ranges across a number of genres including gospel, R&B, opera, house, kwaito and classical music.
