South 32’s Mpumalanga-based Khutala Colliery, part of its South Africa Energy Coal operation, has expanded and now accommodates an additional 160 onsite employees. To accommodate the increase in personnel, the Colliery contracted Kwikspace to supply male and female change houses, a laundry unit and office space.
Acquired via a tender process, the project included the manufacture, delivery and assembly of one 7 m X 15 m change house and another measuring 3 m X 17.4 m; one 3 m X 11.6 m office and one 3 m X 6 m laundry unit including industrial laundry equipment.
The sales order, which was received October 2019, took 6 weeks to complete. Gerry De Beer, Senior Accounts Manager at Kwikspace, says that they were awarded the tender due to Kwikspace’s willingness to design the units according to customer specifications, and because of the company’s superior quality products and service.
South 32 was looking for a complete turnkey solution for their Khutala Colliery. Kwikspace supplied all the fittings, ensured all the units were stable, level and safe in the uneven paved area, and installed a 4 m x 25 m roof between the units. “The laundry equipment consisted of an industrial washing machine and tumble dryer, which we sourced and installed,” De Beer says. “As part of this additional service, we also fitted all external connections for the required water reticulation.”
Once again, Kwikspace proved why they are the market leader in Alternative Building Technology.
