Steinmüller Africa receives six awards at Eskom Welding Awards 2024

Steinmüller Africa’s welders, recognised as the steam generation and high-pressure piping experts, have once again secured the company’s reputation as a supplier of choice at Eskom’s Annual Welding Awards 2024 by receiving six awards.
Held at Wits University on October 27, 2024, the award ceremony, which is part of the annual Eskom Welding Seminar, recognises top welders across various categories with the aim of championing the development of welding skills and celebrating excellence in the welding industry.
The six awards from the Camden and Kendal Power Stations included:
- Winner: Power Plant Most Consistent Welder of the Last 5 Years.
- 1st Runner-up: Power Plant Most Consistent Welder of the Last 5 Years.
- 1st Runner-up: Power Plant Young Welder of the Year.
- 1st Runner-up: Power Plant Welder of the Year.
- 2nd Runner-up: Power Plant Young Welder of the Year.
- 2nd Runner-up: Power Plant Most Consistent Welder of the Last 5 Years.
The awards evening formed part of the annual three-day welding seminar, where the industry meets to share knowledge and network. The event’s agenda included research paper presentations on solutions and innovations available for the welding industry.
“The recognition serves as a motivation for contractors to continue striving for excellence and bringing their A-game forward,” says Mpho Mafela, Communication Officer, Steinmüller Africa.
“Steinmüller Africa is committed to earnestly supporting their in-house welding engineering teams and equipping them with the necessary tools to continuously advance and be the best there is,” says Mafela.
The award winners were celebrated at the event by over 20 of their colleagues, including Steinmüller Africa’s Director Mr Moso Bolofo, Kendal Project Manager and Site Manager Gift Mashamba and Nsovo Maswanganyi as well as Senior Welding Engineers Friedrich Schwim and Orifuna Netshifamadi.
