Kwikspace supplies Cape Peninsula University of Technology with re-built mobile classroom

Kwikspace, Africa’s largest manufacturer of prefabricated, modular buildings, recently delivered and installed a re-built classroom unit for the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, situated in Bellville, Western Cape. The order for the classroom unit was placed on 1 September 2021 and it was handed over on 10 November 2021.

The 13.96 x 9.30m Kwikspan classroom unit, which was damaged during student protest action, can accommodate approximately 50 students at a time. The standard modular prefabricated classroom unit comes fitted with a veranda, safety gate, whiteboards, pinboards, and floor covering, as well as internal electrical supply.

“Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), a university in Cape Town, South Africa, is the only university of technology in the Western Cape Province, and is also the largest university in the province, with over 32 000 students. It was formed by merging the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon, as well as a few other independent colleges”

Kwikspace units are locally manufactured using polyurethane, which provides strength and durability, with a life expectancy of up to 20 years if properly maintained. It has excellent thermal insulation properties and does not delaminate over time.  

“CPUT has been a Kwikspace customer for several years, and typically purchases or hires classrooms/accommodation units due to increase in student numbers,” explains Tony Collison, Account Manager, Kwikspace. “In turn, our mobile units are an ideal option as they are factory manufactured to high-quality standards.”
