Kwikspace has completed its second Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre for the City of Cape Town in less than a year, as government, business and NGOs continue to utilise alternative building technologies (ABT) to leverage greater returns on their corporate social investments.
The Bosasa ECD Centre, supplied to the Mfuleni community by the City of Cape Town, includes 10 classrooms, two ablution units and a social hub, which will provide a safe and nurturing educational and development facility for young children from the community
Supplied as a complete turnkey solution, Kwikspace also provided all fencing, generators, a playground, mini soccer field and seating areas, as well as landscaping for the site. The entire facility was constructed in just two and a half months.
“Kwikspace is very proud of the role it plays in increasing access to early childhood development and education in South Africa,” explains Mico Botha, Kwikspace’s Cape Town branch manager. It has delivered a number of successful educational projects around Cape Town and the Western Cape, from temporary classrooms to complete schools using the company’s technology.
Optimising CSI spendPrefabricated educational facilities have become a preferred avenue of corporate social investment in South Africa because they enable lasting and valuable impact by providing a more cost-effective solution for space.
The low cost, rapid fabrication and delivery, and long lifespan of Kwikspace’s prefabricated building technologies offer a greater return on investment over conventional brick and mortar-based facilities and are therefore ideal for community upliftment projects.
“The reduced cost/m2 of Kwikspace ABT means CSI expenditure can be used to procure more space than can be gained via conventional buildings,” Botha concludes. This is why it is becoming the preferred solution for development initiatives across the country.
Kwikspace park homes are NHBRC and SANAS and provide a guaranteed lifespan of over 20 years.
“Kwikspace has a proud and success-driven business relationship with the City of Cape Town,” he says. “We take our responsibilities towards our clients and the requirements of the Western Cape for modular building solutions very seriously.”
