Hytec South Africa (Hytec SA) donated its 14th containerised library as a part of its continued commitment to uplift the communities in which it operates. As a part of the company’s library initiative in partnership with the Mandela Day Libraries Project, the donation was made to Tlakana Primary School in Limpopo.
The new library is situated on the school’s premises and will not only serve the 198 learners at the school, but it will also serve 400 learners from two other primary schools in the vicinity. In addition to benefitting the three schools, the village community is encouraged to make use of the facility.
The library opening took place on Mandela Day and was attended by a representative from the Department of Basic Education, Robert and Jackie Coutts, from the Mandela Day Libraries Project were present. Bosch Rexroth Africa Chief Operations Officer, Mike Harrison and Hytec South Africa General Manager, Freddie Kühn, also attended.
Robert Coutts expressed the value of reading, saying, "Books provide a broadening of a child’s imagination and give the gift of an active imagination beyond the limits of this rural community. This allows for personal growth through reading, and we hope that it translates into expanded horizons for these children.”
His sentiments were echoed by Mike Harrison: “We believe in enriching the minds of children by helping to further their knowledge base through this initiative. We are very proud to be participating in improving the lives of the children in our society.”
