Vote for your Favourite Place to Eat in Cape Town
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonCapetonians with culinary cravings will get a chance to vote for their favourite eateries in the Alto Top 100 Places to Eat Cape Town 2012 Awards.
The Alto Top 100 Places to Eat Cape Town 2012 Awards programme, now in its second year, is breaking new ground by reaching out to the public and requesting them to vote online at www.spill.co.za for their top restaurants from a pre-selected list of 20 finalists.
Last year's awards were the first time that a restaurant awards programme focused their attention only on Cape Town eateries, which includes a broad range of dining experiences, rather than concentrating only on fine dining establishments.
"When locals and visitors eat out in Cape Town they want a guide to the best places to eat and not just fine dining spots and that is what these awards represent," explains Clare Mack, organiser of the event, who is also a renowned food writer and editor of www.spill.co.za, a leading online publication for food reviewing.
This year's Top 100 Places to Eat Cape Town 2012 Awards is sponsored by leading wine producer and the oldest red wine estate in South Africa, Alto, to give support for the growth and development of Cape Town's wine and food culture.
Says award-winning Alto winemaker, Schalk van der Westhuizen "Alto recognises the importance these food and wine establishments play in promoting Cape Town tourism and we are delighted to be sponsoring this year's Alto Top 100 Places to Eat Cape Town Awards."
Cape Town Tourism is a big supporter of the awards. Says CEO Mariette du Toit-Helmbold "Cape Town's food and wine culture has a vital role in the city's tourism offering. We are delighted that both the up-market establishments and the smaller, more casual and informal eateries are being judged and recommended in the Alto Top 100 Places to Eat in Cape Town Awards, and of course to get the public to vote for the Top 10 this year is the icing on the cake."
Voting can be done online at www.spill.co.za and closes at 5pm on Tuesday, 20th November.
