SAPPMA Marks Milestone at 20th Annual General Meeting with Renewed Commitment to Quality

Describing the sector as “one of the most important in the country,” CEO Jan Venter reflected on the association’s efforts during the 2023/2024 financial year, particularly in addressing South Africa's growing water crisis.
Key Highlights from the AGM
1. Focus on Quality and Accountability
SAPPMA remains committed to maintaining the highest standards in the industry. Members must adhere to a strict Code of Conduct, with unannounced audits ensuring compliance. A recent update to the Code allows for the publication of audit test results, promoting greater accountability and transparency.
2. Strengthening National and Industry Standards
In partnership with the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), SAPPMA contributes to technical committees to align national and industry standards. The association also works with SANAS-accredited testing facilities to uphold rigorous certification protocols.
3. Exclusive Membership
SAPPMA membership is voluntary but exclusive, reserved for organisations committed to high-quality benchmarks. Returning and new members highlight the strength of the SAPPMA brand and its reputation for excellence.
4. Technical and Marketing Initiatives
SAPPMA’s Technical Committee continues to address challenges while bolstering the industry’s credibility. Marketing efforts complement these initiatives by showcasing the value of SAPPMA’s commitment to quality.
5. Financial Performance
Despite economic and logistical challenges, SAPPMA recorded positive financial results, achieving its objectives and growing its membership base.
6. Acknowledgments and Vision for the Future
Jan Venter expressed gratitude to members, the Chairman, and the Board of Directors for their contributions. Emphasising vigilance, he stated, “The strength of the SAPPMA brand is undeniable, but we must remain committed to ensuring its growth and evolution.”
