Bay Harbour Market Auction for Charity
Submitted by: Ian DickinsonWhip out your smartphones, digital diaries or your old-fashioned calendars and diarise Saturday, the 2nd November to join Bay Harbour Market for a fabulous auction to raise funds for sustainable change.
The auction at Bay Harbour Market has been organised to give visitors the opportunity to bid on a number of interesting items, from home décor to fashion to hardware. With the range of cushions, candle stands, lanterns; t-shirts, handbags; cabinets, a coffee table and a cordless drill, visitors will be able to get a head start on the Christmas shopping mania and save money on quality items.
A portion of the auction’s proceeds will go towards THRIVE Hout Bay, a community-based organisation that aims to teach individuals and businesses how to live sustainably. THRIVE Hout Bay currently supports the Sentinel Primary School in Hout Bay and is actively involved in planting vegetable gardens in the school to promote environmental awareness.
Bay Harbour Market attracts approximately 7,000 visitors a weekend and offers a uniquely-social shopping and eating experience in an atmosphere that is friendly, vibrant and distinctly South African. In addition to this, Bay Harbour Market supports a number of charitable organisations in Hout Bay that work towards building a better community, a better nation and a better tomorrow.
Says Anthony Stroebel, co-founder of Bay Harbour Market, “The auction will be great fun, but it also speaks to the vision of the market; to educate a community of people on sustainable living; we look forward to raising as much money as possible so that we can continue to support THRIVE and the great work they do in the Hout Bay community, whilst giving bidders great items for presents or the home.”
Visitors can register for the auction at 9.30 am at the market and the auction will start at 11.30 am. All goods on auction can be viewed here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bayharbourmarket/sets/72157636681772426/
