Entries Closed For Rip Curl GromSearch Seal Point presented by The Cape St Francis Resort

Seal Point, Cape St Francis - it only took a few days for the entries to max out for the Rip Curl GromSearch Seal Point. This popular tournament is the final contest in a 5-event series and will be crowning event champions as well as the Premier U16 Division Series Winners. 

What Is This Contest All About?

The Rip Curl GromSearch Seal Point is the final event of this illustrious Junior Surfing Series. The best junior surfers in the country will be battling it out for trophies, prize money and bragging rights. As we approach the final event in the second year of the series, it is clear that the Rip Curl GromSearch has successfully rekindled the fire in junior surfing in the country. Anyone who hasn't entered by this stage and wants to surf in the contest needs to get hold of Surfing South Africa directly and ask to be put on the alternate list. 

Where Is It Happening?

This tournament is a three-day event, and with such a full entry list, it will see all the days utilised for heats. Seal Point is a fun, high-performance right-hand point break perfectly suited to the best junior surfers in the country. It can be found under the shadow of the Seal Point Lighthouse in Cape St Francis in the Eastern Cape.

Who Is Involved In Such An Event?

For starters, the country's best junior boys and girls will be surfing in the Rip Curl GromSearch 2023. This tournament is the culmination of a very successful Junior Series that has brought together these junior surfers to compete and interact throughout the year. Some top names include Rip Curl team riders Gemma Hanafey (East London), Kai Stubbs (Scarborough), Jack Erlank (St Francis Bay), Rylan Jarvis (Cape St Francis), Blake Crankshaw (Wilderness) and Ben Esterhuyse from Cape Town.

Local surfers include Rory and Joel Dace, David Moussouris, Slayde Shooter, Jesse Moulang, Troy Jorge and Nathan Plomaritis.

The contest is a Surfing South Africa event, and The Cape St Francis Resort is the presenting sponsor. TCS Wi-Fi brings the Internet to the contest site for the spectators and competitors, and Louis Wulff is the official event photographer. 

When Is It Happening? 

The contest starts on Friday morning, the 29th of September, and will run through to the afternoon of the 1st of October. The prizegiving will take place at the car park immediately after the event.
