Maharishi Park opens in ‘Education Town’

Promotes community engagement, athletic excellence, and holistic education for MII students
Maharishi Park, a new sports and recreation complex that further extends the Maharishi Invincibility Institute (MII) campus in Marshalltown, has officially opened. Developed in partnership with the people’s movement and urban renewal organisation Jozi My Jozi, and funded by One Resources Group (on behalf of the One Foundation) and global sports flooring company Belgotex, the facility aims to promote community engagement, athletic excellence, and holistic education for all MII students.
Maharishi Park features a modern sports clubhouse and multi-purpose fields for basketball and soccer that work together with MII’s top-tier fitness centre, all designed to support physical well-being, academic success, and personal growth.
“This is more than just a sports facility – it’s a space where potential is unlocked and communities are strengthened,” said Dr Taddy Blecher, CEO of MII. “By combining world-class amenities with our consciousness-based education model, we are shaping future leaders who excel in mind, body, and spirit.”
Bea Swanepoel, CEO of Jozi My Jozi, emphasised the project’s significance in contributing to the inner-city’s urban renewal and revitalisation programme launched by the City of Joburg.
“Maharishi Park is a testament to the power of collaboration. At Jozi My Jozi, revitalising urban spaces isn’t simply about infrastructure – it’s so much more than that. It’s about restoring pride back into our city, giving hope to its people and creating economic opportunities. This park will certainly do that by providing young people with a place to dream, play, and grow. It’s a model for how cities can invest in their greatest asset: their people.”
The development of Maharishi Park reflects a commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development. One Resources Group, through the One Foundation, and Belgotex have backed the project as part of their broader efforts to drive innovation and equity in education and community infrastructure.
Robbie Brozin, co-founder of Nando’s and a director of Jozi My Jozi, speaking at the launch event, stated that there is no better time than the present for the creatives and the ‘crazies’ to wake the nation. “What MII is doing in this space talks directly to this philosophy. Joburg as the host city of the G20 Summit presents us all with an amazing opportunity to showcase our city to the world, starting right here at MII. We know that to build a city you have to start from the inside out, and today MII is an inspiration and a shining example.”
The grand opening on 19 March included guided tours, sports demonstrations, and addresses from key stakeholders, offering the community a first-hand experience of the new facility. Maharishi Park stands as a symbol of what’s possible when education, sport, and community vision come together—a place where futures are shaped, and resilience is cultivated.
“We’re proud to support a space that will inspire future generations,” explains Blecher. “This is a legacy of hope, built on the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.”
