Toys R Us and Babies R Us have partnered with NPO Reach for A Dream for this festive season. All proceeds raised over the festive season go to Reach For A Dream to help the foundation to continue making dreams come true.
Add R5 to any purchase until 24 December and you can contribute to Reach for a Dream helping children fight a serious disease by making their dreams come true.
Reach for a Dream has been providing dreams to children around the country for 35 years and seeks to alleviate the strain that life-threatening illnesses place on sick children and their families by providing them the opportunity to believe in their greatest wish.
“It’s the season of giving and making dreams come true and it’s with this in mind that Toys R Us and Babies R Us have partnered with Reach for A Dream and Disney to spread some much-needed joy and cheer with the aim of bringing smiles to the faces of children facing the unthinkable,” says Catherine Jacoby Marketing Manager at Toys R Us. “We believe everyone can help make a memorable difference in the life of a child fighting a life-threatening illness by making dreams come true.”
“The remarkable work the organisation does on an ongoing basis is testament to the smiles we see on the faces of children facing life-threatening illnesses,” she adds. “We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for South Africans to get involved in playing their part in spreading joy.”
Jacoby adds that in addition to the five rand donated from every purchase made, Toys R Us have also partnered with the Disney Charity Soft Toy Drive, which is also raising funds in aid of Reach for A Dream. “When you purchase any Disney plush toy from Toys R Us, an additional five rand will go to the foundation,” she says.
What’s more she says, if you’re visiting any of the selected shopping malls over the festive season you will see the magical Disney plush toy Christmas trees and hot air balloons.
“The Reach for a Dream foundation has made almost tens of thousands of dreams come true since its inception in 1988,” she adds. “The funds raised enable them to do their work better and fulfil more dreams, we are honoured to play a small part in spreading this joy.”
“Our values as a brand are completely aligned to the foundation's work and we believe in the importance of joy, the gift of play and dreaming big,” Jacoby says. “We are looking forward to thousands of South Africans coming into our stores over the festive season and playing a small part in making many dreams come true.”
“Children have big dreams and small dreams and Reach For A Dream facilitates them all to ensure that when a child receives their dream, that memory lasts for many years for both the families and the children,” says CEO Julia Sotirianakos at Reach for A Dream Foundation. “We are about hope and inspiring hope and that’s what keeps us going and we are grateful to organisations like Toys R Us and Disney who continue to believe in the importance of our work.”
