Serial entrepreneur and full-stack developer Wouter Olwagen has officially launched Fonster (fonster.co.za), a digital platform designed to solve one of South Africa's most persistent household challenges: finding trustworthy, qualified contractors for home repairs and maintenance.

"After running a pressure cleaning business for three years, I saw first-hand the disconnect between homeowners desperate for reliable service providers and skilled contractors struggling to find consistent work," says Olwagen, founder of Fonster. Drawing on his experience building successful SaaS products – including CmdSharp, a mobile invoicing app for freelancers, and ProViska, a property inspection platform – Olwagen spent 2025 developing Fonster's technology infrastructure and vetting process.

"I build products that solve real problems without needing massive budgets or huge teams," says Olwagen, who has bootstrapped all his ventures. "Fonster is built to scale efficiently while keeping costs low for both contractors and homeowners."
