Renishaw Hills recently hosted a meaningful Parkinson’s Awareness Day, bringing together more than 70 residents and supporters for a morning of education and community spirit.
Community Comes Together For Awareness
Organised by residents Helen and Myles Jee, the event took place on the estate and featured a 600-metre awareness walk, supported by marshals and medical teams, followed by an insightful talk from Dr Karisha Roopnarain, specialist neurologist from Hibiscus Hospital, on understanding and managing Parkinson’s Disease.
Guests enjoyed a relaxed social gathering with refreshments, all in support of the Parkinson’s community and ongoing awareness efforts.
Building A Supportive Community
The Renishaw Hills Parkinson’s Support Group, started by Helen and Myles, empowers residents and the broader community by creating a safe, welcoming space for those living with Parkinson’s, as well as friends, family, and caregivers. Through monthly meet-ups, members share experiences and offer support, creating lasting connections.
“Events like this highlight the strength of the Renishaw Hills community,” said Barto van der Merwe, Managing Director of Renishaw Property Developments. “They create opportunities for residents to come together with purpose, supporting one another while raising awareness around important health issues. It’s this sense of community that really underscores life at Renishaw Hills.”
