The KZN South Coast's reputation as a premier tourism destination has received another boost, with Clansthal-based boutique hotel, The Lazy Moose, securing second place in both the Best Boutique Hotel and Green Initiative categories at the 5th Durban Tourism Business Awards.
Hosted by Durban Tourism, the awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and resilience within the tourism sector.
This year's event attracted a record-breaking number of entries, highlighting the increasing competitiveness and quality of tourism offerings across the region.
Award Recognition
"We are incredibly proud and honoured to have received such recognition at the Durban Tourism Business Awards," said owner Luke Murgatroyd.
"With more than 400 businesses applying for nomination, simply being recognised was a tremendous achievement.”
He continued:
“As a proudly four-star rated boutique hotel, our goal has always been to deliver a five-star guest experience through exceptional service, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality. These awards reinforce our commitment to creating memorable experiences for every guest who visits The Lazy Moose."
A Great Time To Visit The KZN South Coast
The recognition comes at an ideal time for the region, with winter traditionally regarded as one of the best seasons to explore the KZN South Coast.
The mild temperatures create ideal conditions for outdoor activities, while the world-famous Sardine Run is currently drawing visitors.
Future Expansion Plans
Looking ahead, The Lazy Moose is exploring expansion opportunities in response to growing demand for its accommodation and hospitality offerings.
"We are excited about the future," said Murgatroyd.
"Due to increasing demand, we are exploring plans to add additional rooms, enabling us to welcome even more guests while maintaining the high standards that have become synonymous with The Lazy Moose. We would also like to thank our guests, staff, suppliers, and the local community for their continued support. These awards belong to all of you as much as they do to us."
Restaurant Information
The Lazy Moose Restaurant is open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7.30am to 8.30pm, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a relaxed coastal setting.
