Sibaya nurtures roots of change through tree planting

Trees on property and also Sivananda Technical High School
Recently, the Sibaya team celebrated the importance of trees. The gift from nature that cools the planet, purifies the air and sustains life, was honoured through a series of tree-planting activities on the casino property and in the community.
Employees joined learners and educators from Sivananda Technical High School in Kwamashu to plant trees at the school, helping to green the grounds and raise awareness about environmental care. The Sibaya team also rolled up their sleeves on-site, planting additional trees around the resort to enhance its lush surroundings and contribute to a sustainable future.
Located near the Hawaan Forest, one of KwaZulu-Natal’s last remaining coastal dune forests, Sibaya is home to a variety of indigenous species found in the region, including the Natal strangler fig, forest toad tree, broad-leaved quinine tree and the buffalo thorn, some of which are hundreds of years old.
For Sibaya, trees are more than part of the landscape. They represent life and hope. Through ongoing greening and community initiatives, the casino continues to show that caring for the planet is a commitment that lasts all year round.
