Toys R Us Ready for Festive Season Despite Shipping Woes
  • Toys R Us new and exclusive toy releases have not been delayed and will be on shelf from end October
  • The Top Toys will be released without delay

South Africa 17th October 2022 - Toy expert, Toys R Us is not impacted by the current shipping backlogs ahead of the festive season caused by industrial action. The company announced today that the 50 national stores are fully stocked and ready to welcome consumers for the start of an anticipated busy festive season.

"The large majority of our seasonal stock is already in stores, with the balance landing later this month just in time for the festive season," says Catherine Jacoby, Marketing Manager at Toys R Us. “Annually, we gear up for our peak festive season well in advance and with delays in shipping last year following the impact of the pandemic, we have ensured that our stock arrived in South Africa well ahead of the festive season.”

“We are excited to announce that our new and exclusive toy releases have not been delayed and will be on shelf from the end of October,” she adds. “For the past few years global supply chains have caused significant disruptions and delays which caused a shortage of goods worldwide, however we have managed to secure all our stock ahead of the festive season.”

"Getting our stores geared up ahead of the festive season has not come without its challenges as the shipping woes for months have extended beyond the strike action we are seeing now,” Jacoby explains. “Electricity supply in the East as well as a shortage of containers from China, shortages of raw materials and bookings on active shipping lines have had an impact on delivery across the retail sector.”

She says that Toys R Us is happy to report that with the hindsight of last year they have managed to secure its stock ahead of the festive season rush. “We have also streamlined our omnichannel model to offer consumers more touchpoints in which to engage with our brands,” she adds.

“We are confident our buying team have secured toys at affordable pricing allowing accessibility to children nationwide,” concludes Jacoby.
