A recent media performance analysis of ten leading Chinese automotive brands shows Chery leading South Africa's digital media landscape, followed by BYD and Omoda.
The Media Index Awards report measured total online articles, editorial size, share of voice and overall media performance to determine which brands generated the greatest visibility.
Media Performance Results
Chery ranked first with the highest number of online articles and capturing more than 30 percent of the total share of voice.
BYD secured second place, supported by strong editorial reach, while Omoda finished third, reflecting its growing brand awareness in the South African market.
GWM and Jaecoo completed the top five, followed by Haval, Jetour, Changan, Foton Motor and JAC Motors.
Industry Outlook
Although the lower-ranked brands received less media exposure, they have significant opportunities to strengthen their visibility through strategic public relations, partnerships and marketing initiatives.
As competition among Chinese vehicle manufacturers continues to grow, media visibility is becoming an increasingly important indicator of brand strength.
Consistent editorial coverage helps build consumer confidence, supports dealership activity and enhances market positioning in a highly competitive automotive sector.
