Crocworld Is Taking It Up a Gear with the Launch of Bike Shop and New Trails

Scottburgh’s dynamic nature and adventure destination, Crocworld Conservation Centre, is expanding its offering with the launch of an on-site bicycle shop, with plans to expand local biking trails. This exciting new chapter follows Renishaw Property Developments’ recent appointment to manage the facility. With fresh energy and a clear vision for the site, visitors can expect a series of upgrades, with the launch of Badger’s Cycling and Sports Centre (CSC) contributing to this broader programme of upgrades taking place at Crocworld this year.
Crocworld Conservation Centre falls under the 1,300-hectare mixed-use development Renishaw Coastal Precinct. Driven by Renishaw Property Developments, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Crookes Brothers Limited, this is one of the country’s biggest developments of its kind, bringing massive investment to the KZN South Coast.
Badger’s CSC is led by Jason Scott, a lifelong Scottburgh local with deep roots in the area’s cycling community. “Cycling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember,” said Scott. “I grew up here, was schooled in Scottburgh, and even worked in a bike shop during school holidays. To now bring a cycling hub back into this space, in collaboration with Renishaw Property Developments and Crocworld Conservation Centre.”
With more than a decade of experience - and origins dating back to the much-loved Cycle Alley that operated in Scottburgh from the 1990s - Badger’s CSC offers boutique bike sales, professional servicing, accessories, apparel, and expert advice.
Exciting New Trails Planned
Beyond the shop itself, this collaboration includes the development of an expanded biking trail network at Crocworld. This is designed to support community engagement through group rides, time trials, and outdoor events, attracting riders and spectators from across the province.
The new venue will also play host to major cycling events, including the Renishaw Solstice Race on 20 June 2026. Scott added that the partnership reflects a shared vision for the area: “The management at Renishaw Property Developments truly understands the needs of the local community. What’s being created here is something unique; a space that blends conservation, recreation, tourism, and local involvement in a way we haven’t seen before on the KZN South Coast.”
Big Plans for Crocworld
The bicycle shop forms part of Crocworld’s ongoing redevelopment that started this year. This includes improvements to visitor facilities and the reconfiguration of the entrance area and Curio Shop to an adjacent building, while Badger’s CSC is located at the former entrance.
Despite construction at the entrance, Crocworld remains fully operational, with all attractions inside the park continuing as normal, and the centre remains open daily from 9am to 4.30pm.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome a bicycle shop to Crocworld,” said Susan Badat, Centre Manager at Crocworld Conservation Centre. “This aligns with Crocworld’s ethos of encouraging outdoor activity and connection with the natural world. Visitors will now be able to enjoy even more nature trails in the area, with Badger’s CSC on hand to support any biking needs. This is a natural extension of our vision of creating a vibrant, community-focused destination.”
Visitors can continue to enjoy Crocworld’s reptiles, birds, barnyard animals, daily talks, conservation experiences, and great meals at the Fish Eagle Café - while keeping an eye out for exciting new announcements in the months ahead.
