The awards are aimed at commemorating women in the sporting fraternity with the province of Gauteng. The Women in Sports Awards was launched virtually on 23 juL 2021 AT 14:00 .
The Women in Sports Awards was established in 2018, which incorporate all 5 districts of Gauteng, namely City of Ekurhuleni, City of Johannesburg, Westrand District, City of Tshwane, and Sedibeng District.
This initiative has since its inception inspired a vast amount of women to strive not only for recognition but for upliftment from grassroots level to elite professionals and ultimately be celebrated for their achievements over the past 12 months (01 August 2020 - 31 July 2021) in their respective districts ahead of their district awards ceremonies.
Nominations are open from 23 July 2021 - 22 August 2021 and nomination form is available on Futballing Girls social media as well as on the WhatsApp line 065 690 5407.
Futballing Girls Founder, Moonira Ramathula who seeks to inspire other women to become advocates of women in sports, said,As much as its been a difficult year for sport with most sporting activities either not taking place or very little taking place we felt that we needed to continue with the recognition and celebration of women in sport.
These awards play a catalyst role at district level for the growth and development of girls participation in sport and women in sport.
