Johannesburg - The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA) is proud to announce that an AFDA honours short film “Kammakastig Land” will represent South Africa in the 35th annual Student Academy Awards. AFDA and the crew of “Kammakastig Land” will go up against the best of the worlds student films in the category of Honorary Foreign Film Student Award.

The Student Academy Awards is an annual competition conducted by the Academy and the Academy Foundation. Every year over 500 film schools and universities across the U.S enter works to be judged in the following four categories: Animation, Documentary, Narrative and Alternative. Added to these is an award which honours a film outside of the U.S, contested worldwide by all CILECT member film schools.

{pp}Invitation to attend the “Turkish-African Foreign Trade Bridge-3 Event 13-17 May 2008.

The Confederation of Business and Industrialists of Turkiye ( TUSKON) is once again organising the 3rd Turkiye- African Foreign Trade Bridge in Instanbul.

TUSKON has requested the Turkish/South African Business Council to identify business people interested to attend the event.

The African Summit in 2006 was TUSKON’s first event and was very successful. In 2007 more than 60 ministers and government officials as well as 500 business people from 31 African States including South Africa, attended. They met and networked with approximately 1500 Turkish entrepreneurs in bi-lateral meetings. Approximately 20 000 meetings took place and business to the amount of US$200 million were realized, laying the foundation for a long term trade volume of US$2 billion. Tours organized after the event strengthened the relations. Turkish business engaged in investment projects and established joint ventures or registered individual companies in countries like Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa and Nigeria.

 

Cape Town Company secures multi million Rand tender in Johannesburg

{pp}Cape Town based company, Combustion Technology, has been awarded a multi-million Rand tender to upgrade the coal fired boiler house at the Johannesburg Hospital in Gauteng.

This follows their Pioneering leadership in their field of expertise, which started with the Coal Conversion to Sasol Natural Gas in 2003.
