As part of its 5th birthday celebrations, TSiBA selected the Niall Mellon Township Trust as one of its five “Give 5 projects” to support this year. One hundred and fifty (150) volunteers from TSiBA, Northeastern University (USA), GR8 Events, 1st Contact, Metropolitan Health and several individuals, participated in a house build on Saturday, 25 July in Mfuleni, Cape Town. Twenty teams worked together to build internal walls and paint wall of houses. The best part of the entire exercise though was the hand over of a completed house to Veronica Booi. It was a beautiful experience that bought together a diverse group of people in one mission to” Pay it Forward.” TSiBA is very proud to be associated with such an incredible mission and to have contributed to changing someone’s life in such a big way. The philosophy of Paying it Forward is a foundation stone of the TSiBA culture. Although it was formalised into a Pay it Forward Society in 2008, it remains a theme that is consistently in evidence - from the community leadership projects the students undertake as part of their studies, to the generosity of spirit with which the lecturers and mentors volunteer of their time and expertise. The uniqueness of this elegant concept is that one does not repay the person who has done something for you. Rather, you do something good for someone else. The power of Pay it Forward relies on the multiplier effect: It is exponential. These selfless actions have numerous unintended consequences. You rarely ever know the effect that your life and generosity have. Because Pay it Forward is one of the guiding principles on which TSiBA is founded, it was an obvious choice to spend our 5th birthday year doing just that: Paying it Forward.Embargo Date: NoneContact Details Name: Juliet MdluliCompany: The Tertiary School in Business Administration (TSiBA)Phone: 021 532 2750 x 104Email: juliet@tsiba.org.zaWebsite: www.tsiba.org.za
