Karatara, the Tertiary School of Business Administration (TSiBA) today further extended its mission of igniting opportunity with the launch of its second campus in rural Karatara, in the Garden Route. The institution formerly known as Eden has become the first of TSiBA campuses outside of Cape Town. TSiBA is a private not for profit higher education institution that offers emerging leaders an opportunity to study an enriched degree that is focused on developing entrepreneurship and leadership.
Their expansion confirms that TSiBA's model provides innovative solutions that support government’s commitment to widening access to higher education and developing rural areas. TSiBA has been in operation for five years and their Cape Town Campus currently supports 220 students who are studying towards an accredited Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership. Thanks to corporate and other funding all students are provided with full tuition scholarships and TSiBA boasts 3 Mandela Rhodes Scholars in its first five years of operation.
Eden Campus, which started in 2006, offers a foundation programme in entrepreneurship that is based on developing sustainable and green businesses and therefore marries well into the TSiBA model. “Eden is highly regarded and we are excited that our expansion supports our mission to be an innovative learning community that graduates entrepreneurial leaders who ignite opportunity and social change,” says Leigh Meinert, Managing Director of TSiBA. “Eden offers us an excellent opportunity to apply our knowledge and our resources in a rural environment. Furthermore, Eden Campus enables us to realise our aim of enabling talented young people, particularly those is remote areas, to access the vast opportunities that higher education opens up.”
The launch event included the attendance of the Executive Mayor of Knysna Eleanor Bouw Spies who in her speech voiced the need for institutions like TSiBA to exist and for students to be afforded the opportunity to a quality education. “It gives me great pleasure to be part of something so historic and incredibly meaningful to the growth and advancement of our youth, she said. At a moving yet, festive occasion, the flame to ignite opportunity was sparked for more of South Africa’s future leaders.
“The TSiBA model is a replicative unique model that can provide more opportunities here, in Cape Town, the rest of South Africa and the continent”, Meinert stressed. “Imagine the possibilities if more young people were afforded the opportunity to access education and grow their entrepreneurial skills and are provided the opportunities to ignite social change,” she ended.
Notes to Editors The philosophy of “Paying it Forward” is an important part of TSiBA's culture. Rather than pay the institution back, Students are encouraged to Pay it Forward in kind by contributing to community projects. TSiBA was founded in 2004. TSiBA is registered and accredited with the Department of Education as a Private Higher Education Institution. TSiBA offers a unique Foundation Year Certificate in Business Administration followed by an enriched Bachelor in Business Administration focused on Entrepreneurial Leadership. Eden Campus, now know as TSiBA Eden offers a foundation programme in entrepreneurship that is based on developing sustainable and green businesses.
TSiBA specifically targets scholars and potential students that would otherwise not have access to tertiary level education, by offering successful applicants full tuition scholarships.
