Time Square Awards Bursaries To Top Glen High Learners Supporting Future Academic Excellence
Time Square has recognised outstanding academic achievement by awarding bursaries to three learners from The Glen High School, reinforcing its commitment to education and community upliftment.
Each learner received a bursary of R32,500 to cover school fees for the year, providing meaningful support toward their continued academic journey and future aspirations.
Celebrating Academic Excellence And Ambition
The bursary recipients include Botlhale Mahlangu, who achieved an average of 82%, Eunice Mungomba with 85%, and Oreoluwa Omotobora with 84%.
Beyond their academic results, each learner has demonstrated strong ambition and a commitment to personal growth. Mungomba, the top mathematics learner in Grade 8, is actively involved in netball and aspires to pursue a career in medicine as a neurosurgeon.
Mahlangu, a member of the school’s debate team, is driven by a desire to challenge social norms and hopes to build a future in diplomacy.
Omotobora has excelled academically, achieving top positions in Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, and earning recognition as the most improved learner in Economic Management Sciences. She aims to pursue a career in medicine or dentistry and draws inspiration from the words of Winston Churchill, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
Supporting Education And Community Development
The Glen High School principal, Caroline Nel, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in shaping future leaders.
“The vision of The Glen High School is to be a superior institution of learning where all learners realise their full potential to become well-balanced and honest citizens, respected and equipped to meet challenges. We are grateful to Time Square for enabling these learners to follow their dreams, which begin with a solid high school education,” she said.
Recognising Achievement Through Partnership
The bursaries were formally presented at a ceremony held at Time Square in February. The event was attended by the school principal, the learners, and their parents, with Time Square General Manager Ruben Gooranah handing over the awards.
This initiative forms part of Time Square’s broader efforts to invest in education and empower young people within local communities.
